Lever Experiment B

In lever Experiment A, we learned that the farther away the effort is from the fulcrum, the less effort was needed to lift the load. That brought another question to mind. What is the relationship if we move the load and keep the effort in the same place. Lever Experiment B allowed us to test that. What we found was that as the load moved farther away from the fulcrum, we needed to use MORE effort to lift the load. 
If you think of a seesaw this starts to make sense. If the person is sitting on the end of the seesaw, it takes more effort to lift them than if they sat closer to the middle(fulcrum) of the seesaw.

Tomorrow we will tackle an interesting problem, We have one large board of wood and need to cut out 18 lever arms. We need to figure out how much wood and how to cut the wood so we can accomplish the task.. The secret to solving this lies in the directions. Figure out which requirement you need to start with and then follow the trail until you figure it out.  This will be on page 10 of your Lab workbook.
